Determination of IgG antibodies against the anti-SARS-CoV-2 COVID-19 receptor binding domain (RBD).
Antibodies against RBD make the human body resistant to the COVID-19 virus when somebody infected. Because of this feature, it is called a neutralizer. The detected RBD antibodies prevent the contact of the coronavirus with the receptors of human cells, preventing the virus from entering the cell and multiplying. For this reason, a person not only does not get sick, but also does not create a danger of infecting others.
While IgG antibodies primarily indicate past disease, antibodies against RBD indicate the presence of acquired immunity. The sensitivity of the anti-SARS-CoV-2 COVID-19 RBD test is composed 97%, and the specificity is 100%.
